About the Author
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Southern California, Kellon had many advantages and opportunities to create the kind of life she may have wanted as an adult. But because of her restrictive upbringing by her parents, who made even the very smallest decisions for her throughout her childhood, instead of allowing her to have age-appropriate input, decision-making, and choices about her life as she grew into adulthood, she was forced to go out into the world totally unprepared to figure out how to build the life she might desire.
Kellon details her strict upbringing without her young feelings and opinions being developed and heard. She shares her decades long journey of how she slowly figured out why she couldn't identify her desires and successfully build her life, and the steps she needed to take to find her own voice, confidence, passion, and purpose.

Kellon provides one person's account of the unforeseen results of extreme helicopter parenting that seems to be so prevalent today in our society, and lets the reader, who may be embracing that type of ultra-structured parenting, decide for themselves whether the risks of a similar outcome for their children is worth it.
